Flyin' to get the helper! Phoenix is 100% workin' girl.

Phoenix going around hard to get the helper. Her ears even came up in this one!

UPDATE! 5-23-08 Phoenix passed her Adult Temperment test at the 08' UDC National under judge May Jacobson!
 Her test reads:
 Energy Rating: Medium (calm)
 Sociability Rating: Social
 Protective Rating: Pronounced
Becomes agressive before the threat? NO
    Prior protection training evident? YES
    Calms after 3 minutes? YES
Positive traits: Lively, inquisitive, good nature
 Negative Traites: None

Phoenix also passed her UDC Breed Survey Advanced
She did wonderful during the entire temperament portion, showing nice confidence throughout all the exercises. Unfortunatly I got ahead of myself as a proud and unexperienced doggy mommy and entered her beyond her skills in training when it came to the protection portion. She had problems targeting the sleeve properly and got a funny bite on the top of the sleeve instead of geting the bite bar. I have to give her credit for holding that crappy bite through the helpers drive and stick hits though. She outed nicely with one command. On the long bite, we again had targeting issues with her not getting a good proper bite, then add in the speed she was carying and she came off the sleeve and reattacked. By now she was stressed and her grip was bad, but again she held on through the drive and stick hits and outed nicely. She passed wth a "sufficient" rating because we never got to show off those nice grips, but I learned a lot and we still passed! Back to the training field!

UPDATE! Phoenix earned her BH at the American Doberman Association National Schutzhund trial in August. She did great! Now on to our SchI!
UPDATE! 7-22-07
At the Doberman Pincher Club of Northern California's event in Concord, CA  Phoenix passed her Working Aptitude Evaluation, earning her WAC! She was one of only three dogs to pass, out of the eleven who entered. It was a peice of cake for her, everyone including the evaluator Eve Auch, was very impressed. All in a days work for Phoenix!
UPDATE! 7-2-07
Phoenix passed her AKC Canine Good Citizen test with no failed exersises at the Lost Coast Kennel Club show in Ferndale on 6/30!
UPDATE! 5-15-07
Phoenix passed her Youth Temperament Test (YTT) at the UDC Nationals under judge Bunny Lanning!
Her test reads:
Energy Rating: High (alert)
Sociability Rating: Social
Protective Rating: Pronounced,
Becomes aggressive before the threat? NO
  Prior Protection Training Evident? Yes
  Calmes after three minutes? Yes
Positive Traits: Lively, Uninhibited, Self-Assured, Full of Life,      Good Natured
Negative Traits: None

There was an awful dust storm and rain going on while she took her test, it didn't bother her in the least. She did great!

Phoenix was born on 12/7/05 in Bowling Green, KY. She was bred by Tammy Marshall-Weldon of Swift Run Dobermans. Phoenix's pedigree can be viewed at:
http://www.dobermannvereniging.nl/modules/pedigree/pedigree.php?pedid=172353
Phoenix is one heck-of-a-dog! She was made for schutzhund. As soon as we pull up to the training field she starts squealing because she knows where we are and what she gets to do! She is a very focused tracker, absolutely loves learning obedience, and is such a firecracker during protection! She literally drags me onto the field to work, and barks at the helper like a thing gone mad! She really is a ton of fun to work with.
Unfortunately Phoenix has always had problems with demodecosis. It has already cut her career short for conformation (her ears didn't stand because of it), and slowed down our progress in schutzhund. When she gets sick, I just can't work her and we lose ground on training. My goal for Phoenix is to get her sch1 title and retire her. She absolutely lives for the sport, and I just can't let her down by taking her out of it so young. Luckily she has an amazing spirit, and if you asked her she would never say she felt bad!
She already has one trophy on the wall though! When she was 7 months old, she won Best Juniors at the ADA National Seiger show under judge Norbert Daube, the German breed warden for Dobermans! I was so proud of her, and always will be. It was her shining moment in conformation.
Check back in the future for updates on Phoenix's achievements!
